The village of Thanh Tien has been famous for its paper flowers for over 300 years. Like the people of Hue, Thanh Tien paper flowers have a simple, delicate beauty.

(VOVworld) - I got an email from Abdelilah Boubchir of Algeria expressing his love for Vietnamese music, culture, heritage, and the way Vietnamese people maintain their authentic values. Abdelilah said he always gets a feeling of wonder when he hears the slogan at the beginning of our show. He visits our website almost every day to read the news and listen to songs.

The oldest university in Vietnam is also known as the Temple of Literature, which is about 2km west of Hoan Kiem Lake in downtown Hanoi. The Temple of Literature is a rare example of well-preserved traditional Vietnamese architecture. Founded in 1070 by King Ly Thanh Tong, the temple is dedicated to Confucius (Khong Tu) and honours Vietnam’s finest scholars and men of literary accomplishment. Vietnam’s first university was established here in 1076.

(VOVworld) - As a coastal country, Vietnam has frequently been affected by storms and floods. But in recent years, storms have increased in intensity and frequency due to global climate change. We just wish that no more life would be taken in the coming typhoon.

A: So far, there aren’t any apple cider factories in Vietnam, but there are about 45 microbreweries in Vietnam, whereof 35 are making Czech inspired beer and the other 10 are influenced by German beer culture, according to Jonathan Gharbi, a Swedish beer blogger who lives in Hanoi and travels Vietnam in his search for microbreweries.

(VOVworld) - We are very glad to know that many of our listeners have also listened to VOV’s programs in other languages. They recognized that each section broadcasts somewhat different content which allows listeners to listen to multiple programs without boredom.

First on our show today, we’d like to welcome Gianluca Romani, our new listener from Italy. Gianluca wrote: “This is my first reception report to Radio Voice of Vietnam. The signal of your transmission is strong enough to be receivable even with a simple portable receiver with a whip antenna like mine. I listened to 9726 khz with no interference, but on 9730, there was a station interfering. I like far-east music so I will continue listening to your transmission”.

A: We have gotten a lot of good feedback on the quality of our broadcast to many countries. Conor Farrell of Ireland said “I’m delighted to report that I listened to VOV on 9730 khz on July 20th using a Tecsun PL-600 receiver with a random wire antenna. The signal quality was very good, with a SINPO rating of 45544. It was very interesting to learn about the popularity of tug of war in Vietnam, as it is a game I have played several times when I was younger.”

Over the past week, we have received a lot of letters and emails from listeners around the world. Many said they have closely followed news reports on recent developments in the East Sea.

(VOVworld) - VOV has regularly updated information regarding China’s illegal placement of the Haiyang 981 oil rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. Daily information is available on our shortwave channels and website in 12 languages, Vietnamese, English, French, Russian, German, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Lao, Thai, Cambodian, and Indonesian.
