COVID-19 vaccine should be distributed as scheduled: Deputy PM

(VOVWORLD) - Localities nationwide must organize COVID-19 vaccinations as scheduled and avoid a slow rollout, said the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control at a meeting on Friday chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

The Committee agreed on specific instructions for local authorities and businesses to access and purchase vaccines and quickly transport them to Vietnam.

They urged the Health Ministry to issue a document on extending the groups prioritized to receive vaccination, while preparing to launch the free-of-charge expanded vaccination drive and on-demand paid vaccination service after completing inoculation for priority groups.

The Ministry of Health has directed the Vabiotech company to receive Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine technology. Vabiotech is scheduled to import Russia’s vaccine materials and begin packaging in July.
