EU pushes for AI standardization with new Code of Practice

(VOVWORLD) -The European Commission (EC) on Thursday adopted the General-Purpose AI Code of Practice, a voluntary tool designed to support the effective implementation of the AI Act, the world’s first comprehensive legal instrument regulating AI.

The Code, which was drafted by a group of 13 independent experts, consists of three main chapters focusing on transparency, copyright and safety and security. In the following weeks, Member States and the Commission will assess its adequacy.

Additionally, the Code will be complemented by Commission guidelines on key concepts related to general-purpose AI models, to be published still in July.
