The foiled attack occurred Saturday near the bank’s headquarters in the 8th arrondissement. French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said it could have been motivated by the conflict in the Middle East.
The first suspect told investigators he was recruited via the messaging app Snapchat and was offered 600 euros (about 690 USD) to carry out the attack, police said,
France’s anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation on charges of “conspiracy to commit destruction by fire or dangerous means in connection with a terrorist enterprise” and “terrorist conspiracy.”
