Thailand-Cambodia meeting on border resumes

(VOVWORLD) - A Thai delegation led by acting Defence Minister General Natthaphon Narkphanit arrived in Malaysia on Thursday to attend an extraordinary General Border Committee (GBC) meeting which will try to resolve the border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia.

According to General Nattaphon, a draft proposal was agreed upon at a previous Secretariat-level meeting between Thailand and Cambodia and submitted to Thailand’s National Security Council and Cabinet for review on Wednesday.
He said the ceasefire agreement reached on July 28 must be reinforced through three levels of cooperation. The GBC’s Thursday session will address level 2, and if successful, will facilitate cooperation mechanisms between Cambodia and Thailand that could lead to sustained peace.
Malaysia, the US, and China will attend the meeting as observers.
