Vietnam’s pepper exports hit 7-year high, surpassing $1bn in 8 months

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s pepper industry recorded export revenue of more than 1 billion USD in 8 months of this year, the highest level in seven years, according to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA). The surge was driven by stable global demand and limited supply, which has kept export prices at a high level.

In the reviewed period, Vietnam exported 166,510 tonnes of pepper of all types, worth over 1.12 billion USD. The US remained the largest buyer of the Vietnamese spice, accounting for 21.4%. Exports to China rose sharply by 58% year-on-year to 13,282 tonnes, while sales to the United Arab Emirates and India expanded 9.7% and 13.7%, respectively.

By the end of August, Vietnam exported more than 83,000 tons of cinnamon, earning over 210 million USD. Compared to the same period in 2024, export volume rose nearly 19%, while export value increased 32%. Vietnam’s top cinnamon export markets include India, the United States, and Bangladesh.
