Xoan singing enlivens Hung Kings Festival 2019
(VOVWORLD) - Xoan singing of Phu Tho province was recognized by UNESCO as a World Intangible Cultural Heritage in late 2017. Dating back to the Hung Kings dynasty thousands of years ago, Xoan singing is traditionally performed during the Hung Kings Festival on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month.

Vietnam’s novel “The sorrow of war” applauded
(VOVWORLD) - The novel “The sorrow of war” was written by Bao Ninh in 1987 and soon became a hit on the Vietnamese literary scene. It has won numerous awards. Vietnamese and foreign critics alike have honored it as being “the most touching novel about the war in Vietnam”, “the biggest achievement of Vietnam’s reformed literature”, and “touching the hearts of humans”.

Vietnam responds to International Francophonie Day
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam celebrated International Francophonie Day with a 2-day event called “Color of Francophonie” in downtown Hanoi on Friday and Saturday. The program was co-hosted by Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry, Hanoi authorities, and French-speaking diplomatic missions in Hanoi.

Viet Trieu Friendship Kindergarten, a symbol of solidarity
(VOVWORLD) - Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un paid a two-day official friendship visit to Vietnam on Friday and Saturday. Children at Viet Trieu Kindergarten joyfully welcome the DPRK delegation. Viet Trieu kindergarten is a symbol of solidarity between Vietnam and the DPRK.

Dum singing enthralls visitors to Hai Phong's spring festivals
(VOVWORLD) - As spring arrives in Tong Phuc region (also known today as 3 communes of Lap Le, Phuc Le, and Pha Le) in Hai Phong City’s Thuy Nguyen district, the local people gather to celebrate spring with their traditional Hat Dum or Dum singing. For many of them, spring celebrations are inadequate without singing Dum songs.
