(VOVworld) – Thousands of young people attended the National Voluntary Festival at Hoa Binh park in Hanoi on Saturday to celebrate Global Voluntary Day, which falls on December 5.

At the event organized by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the HCM Youth Union, and the UN Voluntary Program in Vietnam, participants donated their blood. Dinh Mạnh Tien is a freshman from Mining University: “It’s very joyful here. A lot of people come to donate their bloods to help patients in need.”

Ngo Manh Quan, Head of the Blood Donation Campaign of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, says: “The blood donation drive has developed for over 20 years. Half of the blood we have collected is from young donors. It shows their sense of responsibility and contribution to society.”

The festival organizer expects to receive 2,700 units of blood at this event.
